You might not think about it this way, but every marketing decision you make is (intentionally or not) trying to move people along that journey.

Here’s what most of us miss: It’s not just what you’re doing in marketing—it’s what your message is (or isn’t) doing.

And no, I don’t just mean your elevator pitch or homepage headline.

Your message’s job is to pull people through the entire buyer’s journey.

From “never heard of you” → “I’m intrigued” → “how do I work with you?”

Most messages don’t do that. They confuse. Or sound like everyone else. Or they try to skip ahead to the sale—before your audience is even ready.

That’s where the GEO Framework comes in.

It’s not a list of tactics. It’s a way of seeing your marketing as a sequence of persuasion—and your message as the throughline that makes it work.

  • GROW: How people find you
  • ENGAGE: How they get interested in you
  • OFFER: How they say yes

When I showed this visual in a recent workshop, one of my team members messaged me later and said:

“Michelle. I’ve seen your messaging, your sales pages, your programs—but this slide? It was the missing piece. Now I see exactly how messaging pulls someone from finding me → to trusting me → to buying from me.”

That’s the real job of your message.

To move people from one step to the next.

Think of it like a rope across a river. Your message is what helps people walk safely from “Who are you?” to “Let’s work together.”

And once you see it that way? You stop chasing new platforms or tactics and start fixing the one thing that makes marketing suck less.
