I have a confession: I love ❤️ doing voice-of-customer research.

What started as a “quick check-in” with you has turned into me, three coffees deep, creating a murder board of insights like I’m Steve Martin on Only Murders in the Building.

Here’s the thing about Voice-of-Customer research.

When I tell people to do it, they look at me like I just said, “Eat your Brussels sprouts” or “You need a root canal.

But the moment you actually do it? You realize—oh wow—there’s gold in them there responses!

When I first suggested doing Voice-of-Customer interviews, she practically ran in the other direction.

But she finally talked to a few former academics—and that’s when she discovered her sweet spot wasn’t the ones still in academia; it was the people who had already left and landed in a “meh” job. The ones thinking, I took what I could get. Now what?

That single insight changed how she positioned everything.

And it happens every time I do this work, too. Because people evolve. Markets shift. Even experts who know their audience eventually need to listen again.

Maybe it’s the researcher in me. Maybe it’s my Manifesting Generator nature (so many content ideas to respond to).
