Read in Browser | Word Count: 405 | Time to Read: 1.49 minutes I was sitting at my desk yesterday, finished a connection call, and made the deadly mistake we all make. I picked up my phone to check threads for just a minute. Ooops! Cue the doom scrolling. Tariffs on. Tariffs off. Stock market doing its best yo-yo impression. What the heck is going on with student loans????? And suddenly, I'm spiraling, wondering if I should slash my prices, create a new offer, or just hide under my desk until 2028 (or re-watch Severance until season 3 arrives???). Sound familiar? I call this the "isolation tax" — and it's costing you a hell of a lot more than you think. When you're working alone during uncertain times, fear gets magnified, and judgment gets clouded. I'm saying this as an Enneagram six who stays awake solving problems that don't even exist yet. The isolation tax leads to one of two equally crappy outcomes:
Either way, you're paying with your sanity, your time, and ultimately, your revenue. Here’s the deal: External chaos doesn't have to create internal chaos. But preventing that internal chaos requires something most experts don't naturally seek out because we think we can figure it out on our own: Community. Heidi Taylor, a sales consultant in The Expert Up Club, said it best: "It's easy to get caught in our offices and our business in the fear of what's happening and frozen and not taking action. Being around people that are taking consistent action is incredibly important." When we're surrounded by others moving forward, it creates a powerful counter-narrative to the doom and gloom. It gives us a reality check on what's actually possible. During times of uncertainty, focus relentlessly on what you can control: You can't control inflation or if Trump turns the White House into a Tesla dealership. But you can absolutely control your message and your marketing. The isolation tax is too damn high, and I'm not willing to pay it anymore. You shouldn't either. Yours in rebellion, P.S.
