⚡️ This one phrase woke my brain up

Hey Reader,

You know what my brain does when I read copy these days?

It skims. It scans. It begs to be released from yet another paragraph about “stepping into your power” or “unlocking your next level.”

And that’s a problem—because I read a lot of copy.

Between prepping for private tours of The Expert Up Club, reviewing Club member copy, and scouting for speakers for the Make Marketing Suck Less Summit—I’m eyeball-deep in words most days.

So when I landed on Nailah King’s site and saw the phrase:

“Stand Out in the Sea of Shameless”

…my brain sat up like a dog hearing the cheese drawer open.

It wasn’t another safe, same-y slogan.
It was a pattern disrupt.
It was bold, original, unmistakable.

And it made me keep reading. Heck, it made her an automatic YES for the summit because she had a point of view.

Here’s what was happening: My brain—like yours, like your clients’—was experiencing a wake-up call.

Because brains are built for efficiency. (See the 7 1/2 Lessons About Your Brain).

According to neuroscience, we process familiar information faster so we can ignore it faster. If we’ve seen it before? The brain tunes it out.

That’s why “marketing should be easy” gets zero reaction. It’s been said. Repackaged. Resold. Yawn.

But Make Marketing Suck Less? That’s unexpected. It has an edge. It makes a promise—but also raises an eyebrow.

It interrupts the pattern just enough to force your brain to slow down and think,

“Wait, what was that?”

This is client brain shut-off in action: Your right-fit client could literally be reading your words and still not see you. Still not understanding that you can help them.

And that’s not a personal failing. It’s a messaging problem in an oversaturated market.

We’re not just fighting bad copy. We’re fighting overexposure. Overpromising. And the slow erosion of trust caused by a thousand other people sounding just like you.

Which is why now, more than ever, a radically original message isn’t optional—it’s necessary.

That’s what a 3 Word Rebellion is designed to do.

It’s not a tagline. It’s not a catchphrase. It’s a pattern disrupt that cuts through the noise and says:

“This business has something to say. Something different. Something worth paying attention too.”

It’s the reason people stop scrolling.
It’s why they remember you.
It’s how they know—you’re the one who can help.

If you’re ready to shake your message awake and be seen for what you actually do?

We’re kicking off the 3 Word Rebellion Sprint inside The Expert Up Club this August.

This time, you’ll get support from me and from Moxie—my AI-powered marketing wing woman—so you’re never staring at a blank page wondering what the hell to say.

👀 I’ll share all the details soon.

But for now, start asking yourself: What’s the phrase that makes your client’s brain sit up and say, “Wait—what was that?”

If you have an idea, hit reply and tell me what it could be. I’m all eyeballs.

Yours in rebellion,
Michelle
