⚡️ link, loop, land

Hey there!

Before we dive in, I wanted to thank you for giving the Make Marketing Suck Less newsletter a shot.

You can expect an email from me 1-2 times a week that cuts through the BS with tested strategies that actually work for your solo business.

And if you can do me a favor, I’d love to tailor the emails I send to you. Can you click on the link that BEST describes your business right now?

  1. I’m a 1:1 service provider, coach or consultant focused on filling up my client pipeline
  2. I’m a B2B consultant and I’m focused on securing contracts with organizations
  3. I have a leveraged offer (group program, membership, course) and am focused on growing my audience to reliably fill it.

Thanks so much, now on to the show…er email..

The best way to make marketing suck less?

Be known for something.

An idea, a phrase, or a rebellion that connects people to your business.

When you’re known for something specific, the right people find you, they tell others about your work, and marketing becomes easier.

Don’t believe me?

James Clear: Atomic Habits
Wes Kao: Spiky Point of View
Brene Brown: Vulnerability
Simon Sinek: Start with Why

Each person is known for an idea and is known by the right people.

Even though they all market, it works better because they are known for something specific.

Why does this work? What’s the science behind getting known for your work?

That’s where Link, Loop, Land come in.

******

Link

“I link, therefore I think,” says Robert Cialdini in his book Pre-suasion. When the brain makes the association between two things, it becomes memorable and even unmistakable.

If I say, “Just Do It,” what brand do you think of?
Picture the Golden Arches; what business does that represent?

Nike and McDonalds, right?

That’s the power of linking. It’s a powerful way to have your business remembered.

******

Loop

Copywriters often talk about the power of open loops to make people read the next line of copy.

A loop can also make people curious to know more about your business.

I talk about the Intrigue Loop in my book, 3 Word Rebellion. It’s a good test of the effectiveness of your message to capture your potential client’s attention.

The Loop happens when your messages make people say either:

»What does it mean?
»What does it mean for me?

If we take Simon Sinek’s Start with Why, your brain could respond with:

Cool, I should start with why, but what is my why? How do I find my why? What does it mean to start with why?

At this point, Simon Sinek has you and sends you down the rabbit hole of content on a quest to find your why.

This leads to the final part of this framework…

******

Land

Your business is linked to an idea or a rebellion (a 3 Word Rebellion) and it makes people curious to know more, then what happens next?

Their curiosity leads them to binge your content.

If your content is created to nurture, engage, and ultimately lead people to your offer, you’ll land clients.

Link to an idea —> Opens the Intrigue Loop —> Lands Clients.

How to Discover What You Want to Be Known For?

This sounds great, but how do you figure out what you want to be known for?

This is where the 3 Word Rebellion comes in. What’s that you ask?

It’s a one-of-a-kind message that grabs attention, is associated with your work, and communicates the value of that work to your right-fit client.

It’s your version of Start with Why, Dare to Lead, Make Marketing Suck Less.

It’s also a framework for discovering what you want to be known for.

The best place to start is with the book (the second best place to start is with the OG podcast episode on the 3WR).

And if you’ve been searching for your 3 Word Rebellion for sometime and always wanted to work with me on it? Good news.

Coming this Summer: The 3 Word Rebellion Sprint is happening inside The Expert Up Club.

More details coming soon (or why wait? Find out more by booking a private tour).

Discovering what you want to be known for activates Link, Loop, Land, and that, my friend, will make your marketing suck less.

Yours in rebellion,
Michelle
